How is quilting priced for each project?
Cost per square inch starts at 2¢-5¢ and is determined by the density of the pattern selected. The more dense the pattern means more stitches, and the more it costs per square inch.
An important point to keep in mind: You want consistent density in the quilted pattern or coverage across the entire blanket (quilt) to reduce the amount of traveling, stretch, and shrinkage of the top layer. This is something we will discuss to ensure there are no surprises.

Is the batting and/or backing material included in the quilting price?
It can be! This all depends upon what you’re looking for. Some clients already have coordinating backing and a specific batting they want used. Others just want a neutral, coordinating, or complementary colored backing and are not particularly choosy to the batting used. I can supply both of these for you and can include these options in your quote.
My goal is to give you options that keep you in the driver’s seat.
Requirement: If you are providing batting and backing material, please cut both pieces 4” larger than the quilt top.

How do I get my project to you?
If you’re local—between Vancouver, WA to Salem, OR—we can meet up! If not, then you will need to ship your project to me directly. Don’t forget to insure it!
Once we’ve discussed the details around what you’re looking, you’ll receive a detailed quote. You will need to sign off on the quote, and if you’re not local, ship your project with insurance (please!). When it’s received it is scheduled into the current work and an estimated completion date is emailed to you.
I will send an image of the completed quilting and once the project is paid for, I will ship it back—with a standard $100 of insurance! You are more than welcome to add more insurance coverage on the return shipping. Once you confirm the additional amount, I will add this as a line item to your invoice.

How long does it take to quilt a project?
This all depends upon the time of year and the size of your project. While a general rule of thumb is 3-6 weeks, this does not include time needed to discuss options and agree upon what will be done.
The sooner you can reach out, the sooner we can discuss what you’re working on and deadlines you might have.

What experience do you have in restoring items?
I have been restoring all types of blankets and clothing since I was a teen, and I am constantly deepening my knowledge around textiles and the behavior of fibers. What’s exciting now is how many more options there are that make this possible.
So whether it’s an heirloom quilt or a family christening gown, there are gentle ways to remove the yellowing that happens with age or hand-repair the lace detail for example.
-
How is the restoration price determined?
It’s dependent upon the project itself. Size, amount of damage and repair needed—and most importantly—what you are hoping to accomplish will all impact the timing and cost of the project.
Remember, initial consultations are free, so if you want to shop around to find out an amount, fill out the Project Form and include a few clear, high-resolution images. This will help me to determine the extent of the damage and potential options.

What's the normal process for alterations?
For alternations please send me an email via our Project Form. I will respond, providing information on any questions you may have. If you include your phone number I will reach out directly first, then follow up with an email about what we discussed.
Once you decide to move forward with alterations, we’ll decide on a meeting time that works best for you to come to me. I am available to come to you for an additional fee.
